Once upon a time in Texas, there was a girl with an appetite and a dream...

These dreams go on when I close my eyes

I don't normally talk about my dreams here, but I done had me a doozie. Picture this:

I am walking toward the stage of a live music fundraiser. As I approach, I see Dolly Parton sitting on a stool in a cream shirt/skirt combo. It's just her and her acoustic guitar doing a cover of Stevie Wonder's Signed, Sealed, Delivered. (I don't know if it's important that this is my favorite Motown song--and I do love me some Motown-- that always makes me happy no matter what, but there ya go.)

Anyone out there a self-proclaimed dream expert? Please help. I have a continuous loop of "lahke a foo I wint n stayed too lawng" in my head and I JUST MAHT GO CRAZY.

oooh babay, here I am...

Well, for a start, a "cream shirt/skirt combo" is far too classy for Dolly Parton, so that's weird!

Maybe if she was signed, sealed, delivered in a pink leather one-piece it would be more her...OK let's just not go there!

i think your dream is summed up in one line of the song: "Oh, you’ve got the future in your hand".

I love it that it was Dolly Parton! We saw her in concert once and I couldn't believe how smart and talented she is. She is one classy woman if you can see through her ditzy fascade!

Sorry Tracie, I have no Jungian insights for you. But right on Ginnie! I LOVE Dolly Parton. Absolutely not her music or any film she was ever in, but her public image, her apparent lack of taking herself seriously. She seems very down to Earth without any reason to be. Maybe, Tracie, a Dolly Dream just means you're cool.

i just wanted to test the site first before writing, as i can not seem to publish my stories right now.

Anyhow, write down your dream as you remember it.
I usually do this on the right hand page.
Then by detail ie
going to a concert
Dolly Parton
etc...
list it out, basically you are rewriting it out.
Then what ever those words mean to you write it down.
Dolly Parton: star, celebrity, tacky, fake, warm, funny, Part Doll

It will be amazing what comes to you.
The best dream book I have ever invested in was:
Realities of the Dreaming Mind
-the practice of dream yoga
by Swami Sivanda Radha

Don't let the name of the author put you off, she was born a WASP and then found her path. So the book is written in plain english, without being so estoterical that you get lost.
It teaches you to find your own symbology rather than using someone elses.

cool dream by the way!

Oh, I totally agree with Ginnie and Susan In Italy. I think Dolly created the fascade just to have fun. So maybe you are an intelligent, smart person who likes to have fun and entertain people and loves Motown. (Obviously I know nothing of dream analysis...although last night I dreamt that my boyfriend tried to set me up with his best friend. Very weird.)

Oh, um, I also have another thought. Dolly is very American (in a way that most Americans wouldn't even identify with...) and Stevie Wonder and Motown are also very American, so since you were recently home, maybe your dream was to say that you were just feeling a bit nostalgic (sp?) about home... (And maybe you are also an enigma who loves opposites.) :-)

Maybe your subconcious is considering a boob job and a brunette to blonde conversion? The signed, sealed, delivered part indicates finality. I can't wait for the post-op pictures.

Just jokin'. I love my motown, too. And we did grow up with Dolly. Your just remembering home.... We miss you and I, I, uh, I, I, will allll wayze LUV you-ooh ooh..

Love,
Tina Bug

Very good dream indeed. The advice I give everyone for dream analysis. It's less about the big (boobs, hair) bright (stars, hair) signs in the dream. It's about the little things.

Singing is a major symbol for dreams. It's a very good sign especially if you were enjoying yourself. Look for the little things; light/utensils/sky/water/how you looked/clothing and go from there.

I'm sure there is some deep, Freudian meaning to be found here, but I'm not sure what it is.

Perhaps a supressed, inner longing for a 'cream shirt/skirt combo'?

Hearing Stevie Wonder songs always make me think of my first date with Dean when we went over to Poor Aimee's apartment and he played a bunch of old Stevie Wonder's records. Do you remember that?

Poor Aimee.

See, Dolly is just trying to remind you of that poor guy you threw over.
